madison’s eight birthday…

may 2. 2009
Madison turned eight, which we still can’t believe. The days in the hospital and years of being a nurse don’t seem that long ago, but they are, and she’s growing up into a wonderful, beautiful sweet girl.

We also got Nadia on Madison’s birthday last year, which was special too.

So Nadia’s birthday was on Wednesday, and Madison’s birthday was on Saturday. We had Madison’s baptism early on Saturday, and then her birthday party that afternoon. We were glad to have grandma and grandpa Olson come for her special day too. The baptism was beautiful!

It’s wonderful having a ten year old who wants to do fun things, because she basically did Madison’s party. Her and Jarom did a photo scavenger hunt, and I basically fed the kids. Alex also made another chocolate cake for Madison’s party, which, this recipe is amazing. And the sour cream chocolate frosting, AMAZING. Then it was the waterslide, which we were fortunate to do, because it stopped raining for the afternoon, and then started again in the evening. It was a great whirlwind of a weekend, and we’re glad it turned out as wonderful as it did! You are amazing Madison!

nadia’s first birthday…

april 29. 2009
Oh, a babies first birthday is always so precious. We had such a fun time watching her eat her yummy homemade chocolate cake Alex made. She had plenty of help opening her presents of course, and it was great to have grandma lott come over for dinner too. Leticia and David and family sent gifts for Nadia also, her birthmother and family, which was sweet. It was a fun first birthday!

Things you are doing at one:
You can do lots of sign language some of which are: eat, drink, daddy, mommy, baby, bye-bye, hi.
You mimick a lot of words we say which is sooo cute.
You climb the stairs and go straight to daddy’s office saying “dad-dy.”
You can make animal sounds for a cat, dog, and cow.
You love to take off the little round pads that go on the cupboards so they don’t slam loudly.
You don’t like loud sounds at all, are completely afraid of the vacuum.
You love to look out windows and say bye-bye.
You love to sit in the swing outside while everyone is playing.
You love chocolate, but at least it’s healthy chocolate!
You have a temper right now, which is not fun, and we try to not laugh, but hopefully we’ll move out of that stage soon!
You love playing in the play kithen!
You have an adorable laugh, it’s so positively contagious!
