artsy fartsy…

october 2. 2009
I’ve never been very good at crafts, but I have actually been introduced to something I’m able to do. I love Kanzashi, which is basically oragami with material. I have spent so much money on things for my girls’ heads, I’m excited to be able to make my own boutique style accessories. I love it, and it’s easy, which is probably why my limited crafty brain is able to do it. Here’s to lots of kanazashi!!! These cute bows can be brooches, added on a skirt or scarf, made as earrings, a bracelet, or whatever you want to add it to. Hopefully I can now spice up my jeans and t-shirt simplistic look! The reason there are snaps on each of the bows is so that they can be interchangeable. We’ll see if it works!

sisters…

sept. 2009
Nadia gets lots of love from her sisters. They each love to take care of her and play with her. Alex had fun giving her a bath, and writing all over each other with bath crayons. Madison and Camden love driving her around when they are outside in their jeep. Each of these girls are so wonderful, I hope we will be able to teach them to be best friends, and always help each other.

alex’s new classes…

sept. 2009
Alex has started taking art and music through Ensign Education online. What an amazing program, we have thoroughly enjoyed it. The music program is written by Michael Ballum, and the art program is focused on Christ and this beautiful world He has created. I love these classes, because they incorporate teachings from the prophets and apostles, and even read scriptures sometimes in class.

We have learned many amazing things through Michael Ballum. Such as, classical music has such an astounding impact on the mind, in memorization, in learning, and in opening up the right side of the brain to help creativity be released. Thomas Jefferson was able to write the Declaration of Independence, once he had sent for and received his violin, his pacing back in forth turned into playing the violin, and then writing, playing the violin, and writing. Albert Einstein said he knows it’s music that enabled him to discover all that he did.

We’re so excited to have found a good piano teacher who is willing to come to our home, and have our children taking piano lessons again, and filling our home with beautiful music. The inspired classical and baroque period musicians were just that…very inspired men, doing a work that would even affect our future.
