happy 40th birthday…

july 29.  2013

this was a big birthday for jarom, but fortunately for us, we still think 40 is very young!  i can’t believe though, we are old enough for a 14 year old going into high school, and that we just celebrated our 16th anniversary…where does the time go?

we had a small and fun evening together, got a giant chocolate cake from costco, and gave our dad some gifts of love.  the girls did amazing, creative gifts.  he even got his first bowtie:)  we love you!

i want to live at “the barn”…

july.  2013

we discovered a trendy, vintage of all kinds, pretty good deals barn.  it’s in castle rock, in the vintage part of town, where it’s really cute, and there’s this updated barn, where all these vendors have come in and set up their own section with their cute stuff to sell.  we had so much fun, it’s a treat for us…can’t wait for the next time!  i did see something i’ve never seen before, a vintage nail bin-three spinny shelves that are all sectioned-brilliant.  how can i find one that’s for sale?

fun projects with dad…

july.  2013

jarom wanted to do a few projects with the kids, he is so fun…more than me, i’m too task oriented, and would like to be more like him!  he made homemade bubbles with the girls, they loved it!  then he soldered with camden, and they started with a circuit board and built a metronome.  so cool.

oh ya, it’s that good…

july.  2013

farm fresh raw milk is absolutely amazing!  you can throw the cream in the mixer for a couple minutes, and you have farm fresh butter.  also, homemade chocolate milk is better than any store bought.

if you are afraid of raw because people have made you that way, consider those for thousands of years who have drunk raw milk, and were fine.  the enzymes in raw milk are amazing and essential for our bodies.  it is delish!  the farm we get our milk from also does testing on every batch for any bad bacterias.  So all precautions have been taken, and now we can enjoy the benefits of yummy, untouched, unpasteurized, full of yummy vitamins and enzymes milk.Image

fires near our home…

july.  2013

jarom and i walk the neighborhood at night, and one night, saw hundreds of people camping at the elementary school near our neighborhood.  then talking to one of our neighbors, they were making cookies to take to the servicemen.  i had recently prayed for something fulfilling to do, and the opportunity arised.  our neighbors had inspired us, and i decided to call local companies to see if they would donate food.  qdoba, wanted to donate, but told the firefighters would be getting their food from red cross, and then I called.  they were already ready and had corporate approval, amazing!  they donated fixings for 100 burritos, and we went and dropped the yummy food off.  we met these young girls, who ended up being from idaho, and also, mormon.  i grew to love these sweet girls who volunteered their summers as firefighters, what amazing women!  we then called some more companies, and they donated cupcakes and yummy goods.  it was so fun delivering these goods, and seeing how happy they were to get them.  it was a wonderful experience.

the fun of seeing old friends…

july.  2013

we haven’t seen the james’ family since we were in college back in utah in 2000.  it was so much fun catching up, and seeing each other’s four kids’.  we enjoyed a walk around a lake, fishing, and pie and ice cream near the river, and practicing on our zipline we just put up…it was so awesome!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

the fun age of 12…

may 2.  2013

there are so many obstacles this one has made it through already, she is just amazing!  i can’t believe she gets to wear make-up now.  madison’s birthday started off with homemade gluten free belgian chocolate chip pancakes, and then we headed to fun city with friends to go bowling.  wow, what a great place, and homeschooling, once again, meant we had the whole place to ourselves almost the whole time.  it was awesome!   we then took the girls and madison’s friend mia to the mall, where they had a makeover.  madison got a new lipgloss, and some blush, and gets to enjoy the perks of using moms’ and older sisters’ make up that we’ve already accrued through the years.  we had yummy shepherds pie for dinner, gluten free belgian chocolate chip cupcakes for cake, and finally opened presents!  she used money from grandma to buy a new dress, which is totally stylish for her age, and she picked out all on her own.  she picked out her first pair of pumps too.  it’s great, every morning, seeing how she’s gotten herself ready, and loves to do her makeup.  she just finished up her faith in god book also, which was great.  onto bigger goals!  happy 12th our sweet madison!  what a joy you are in our lives!

nadia turns 5!!!…

april 29.  2013

it’s hard to believe, that five years ago, we were waiting for the call that she was born.  three days later, jarom and i drove to leticia’s house, and we picked up nadia.  we can’t even tell you how smart and wonderful this little one is.  she memorized most of the living christ with us at the age of 3.  she was speaking 3-4 work sentences at 18 months, and full on sentences at 3.  she started reading small words at 3, and now loves to read dr. seuss and other books to me, along with trying to read the scriptures.  we are so blessed to have this sweet girl in our lives.  our heavenly father knew she was meant to be with us!

so nadia picked french toast for breakfast, and helped make it!  then we stopped by a store, and used her money from grandma to buy her a new dress.  our next stop was the zoo, which is always fun, and was quite warm that day.  we had hawaiian haystacks for dinner, and homemade gluten free belgian chocolate chip cupcakes for her birthday cake!

here is nadia reading me the friend this morning…
