a great birthday weekend for myself…

september 20.2008
Jarom fulfilled his contract hours two weeks early for the year, so he’s had two weeks off, which has been really nice. On the 19th, we took the girls for a bike ride in Harper’s Ferry, along the C&O Canal. Absolutely beautiful, flat path covered overhead with trees along the Shenandoah River. We really enjoyed it, and need to do it more often. The girls didn’t want to leave, we really need to get out of the house more often! Alex bought her bike that day, after saving up half of the cost, so this was her first time on a bigger bike, and she did great! One picture of Madison, down the path on her own, was so cute. We were talking about turning around, and she turns around to head back, and takes off, training wheels and all. She wanted to be ahead of the pack this time. I followed up behind her, hollering, “I’m gonna get ya!”, and she would yell back, “No your not!” laughing. It was so cute, makes me laugh thinking about it.

Saturday, we did one of my favorite things to do in the fall, a pumpkin patch! Yeah!!! I love fall, and I love this tradition with the girls, and this time Jarom got to come! We got to play and have fun with our friends the Linton’s, and Annie made birthday cupcakes which were out of this world! Thanks Annie! Jarom and I ended the day getting a sitter for the first time since getting Nadia, and we went and did a temple session which was wonderful. We didn’t have time to sit and eat in a restaurant, so we grabbed food from the Cheesecake Factory, ate it in the car in the parking lot with the sunroof open, and looked at the stars and ate and actually got to be on a date without kids!

Sunday was awesome, in that I didn’t have to cook or clean dinner, and had a nice long afternoon nap! At my request, Jarom made steak and yummy baked potato’s, and he and the girls made a cake.

Even though I don’t care for my birthday, probably childhood letdowns I suppose, it was a very nice weekend. Only got really cranky once! I love the 30’s. I’m enjoying every decade and every moment, they go way too quickly!
