do plants transpire…
sept. 2009
We watered a plant, and put a dome over it, to see if the leaves on the plant would transpire, or “sweat.” It was fun to see, and the dome even had condensation on it. We did the experiment a little too long, because you could see the reprocussions of keeping the plant covered for days instead of hours, and not receiving enough fresh air, and the plant started dying. The point was, if a plant gets too much water, it can release it through it’s leaves. Pretty cool.

do plants need sunlight…
sept. 2009
Our science experiment included two of the same plants, watered the same(or closely), and one was kept in the dark, and one left out to enjoy the rays of sunlight, from the inside of the house. This experiement was done over a three day time period. It was fun to see the results, and learn more about leaves and plants. —So, the plants weren’t in the BEST condition to start with, but there was even more of a noticable difference after, even though looking at the pictures it seems one of them had an advantage to begin with.

playing the part…
to act or not to act…
sept. 2009
Our girls have had so much fun with the costumes that were left here from the Middle Ages and Renaissance Times. Alex wrote a play about a spoiled princess who was mean to her servant, and a magician came and granted the servant to teach the princess a lesson. The princess was now the servant, and understood she should be nice and not treat others unkindly. It was very cute and creative, the girls definitely love performing!
