what do you get after you go on vaca?

august.2008
So a week after vacation, Jarom flushed a diaper(we use g-diapers, it’s a cute cover, with a plastic liner, and you just change the “pad” inside, and can flush them if you so desire), and it clogged the toilet, so he left it and was going to get back to it. Meanwhile, he fed Nadia in the basement while watching a movie. Came back up, and to his surprise, a waterfall coming out of our kitchen ceiling. Yea for us, our own waterfall! And we did it for free! On top of that, two computers decided to have issues. So, what a nightmare week, we called a professional, he got fans, ripped our ceiling out, ripped up the flooring, put special mats with vacuums on the top of the wood floor to take out the water from underneath the wood floor, and after six days of really loud fans blowing, and not able to use the kitchen much which was a pain in the butt, things were dry.

Now onto the headache of figuring out which contractor to use after having them come give bids, and working with the insurance company…poopy, poopy, poopy!!! You can tell I’m not the optimist in the family! It shouldn’t take too long to repair the ceiling in the kitchen, and flooring in the bathroom upstairs, which overall, just isn’t as much damage as it could have been, for which I’m grateful! And at least, this mistake wasn’t my fault, because it seems like they usually are, so yea for me, at least until I make the next one!!! So here’s extra whining, for me to read back on in years…on top of trying to get school prepared, which montessori is all new to me and I’m cutting and laminating hundreds and hundreds of things, Nadia’s surgery is this week(she has a problem with one of her kidneys), getting a new washer/dryer, and the dang gas man showing up smoking a cigarette(are you kidding me, only in WV)!, and not hooking it up because he just couldn’t do it in an hour, only an hour and a half and doesn’t get paid overtime, and painting two rooms, I’m just grateful we are making it through. O.K., vented it and got it out, now onto being more optimistic! It’ll all work out! At least we have a home to repair and our family is safe, at least my husband is amazing at computers and fixed them both, at least I can be home with my kids and do this awesome curriculum of Montessori and homeschool them, at least we have insurance so Nadia can get this issue fixed and Jarom’s mom can help watch the kids, at least we can afford a new washer/dryer with steam so I won’t have to iron so much, and at least I like and can decorate even though it falls at a most inconvenient time, and at least with tears in my eyes, the dang gas man will come back early Monday morning. Looking for the balance, enjoying the journey!
